Pelikan Limited Edition The Light House of Alexandria Fountain Pen

 

 “The Lighthouse of Alexandria”, is one of the “Seven Wonders of the World” series . It paid tribute to the highest of the seven wonders - the Pharos of Alexandria. This majestic ancient lighthouse stood on the island of Pharos close to the coast of Egypt for more than a thousand years; built in 300 B.C., it was the first beacon fire in history and served as the port's landmark.
 The Pharos of Alexandria was 440 ft. high and took over 20 years to build.
The landmark was initially a navigational landmark on Egypt's flat terrain and was converted into a lighthouse during the Roman period. At the apex was positioned a mirror which reflected sunlight by day; a fire was lit at night. The Lighthouse of Alexandria survived the longest of the 7 Wonders, finally succumbing to earthquakes in the 14th century.
