Pelikan Limited Edition M1000 Maki-e Raden Sunrise Fountain Pen

The Pelikan Limited Edition M1000 Raden Sunrise Red Fountain Pen is a stunning follow-up to the popular limited edition of the M1000 Sunlight and M1000 Starlight fountain pens.

The pen was firstly painted with red Japanese Urushi lacquer. In order to make the raden stripes,

abalone shell is flattened and made into very thin sheets and cut into narrow strips to fix it on the lacquer coating of the cap and barrel.

Finally another layer of Urushi lacquer is painted over the raden. The pen is then polished.

The red Urushi combined with the vivid raden stripes emulates the burst of color that occurs in the sky as day breaks.

This maki-e technique is originally reserved exclusively for the Japanese Royals. Each pen is signed individually

and numbered by the artist  The pen comes with the piston filling mechanism and an 18k gold nib. .

The raden maki-e technique is a symbol of power and wealth. .

The M1000 Raden Sunrise Red Fountain Pen is limited to 333 numbered pieces
