Sailor Koshu Inden Black Saya Sheath Fountain Pen
Sailor's new Koshu Inden pens feature the work of Makoto Yamamoto, a much-celebrated practitioner of this craft with over forty years experience as an artist and teacher. It is a much-honored Japanese leather craft in which traditional patterns are painted in Urushi lacquer on natural deer skin, giving the surface of these writing instruments a unique tactile quality. Each pen is hand-crafted using this centuries old artisanal techniques Here artist Makoto Yamamoto used small dots that form a distinct pattern once favored by warriors and now prevalent on Japanese textiles and fabrics. The Koshu Inden Saya Sheath is a mid-size pen that will make an excellent everyday writer. The decorative Urushi design also adds texture to the pen's surface, and thin seams on the cap and the barrel testify the natural material being used for the surface.
These pens were made in very small quantities with 14K gold nib with cartridge or converter filling.
