AP Limited Edition Zodiac Pig Fountain Pen

AP Limited Editions honors and celebrates the spectacular stars of The Chinese Zodiac.

The Chinese Zodiac's origin can be traced to the Han Dynasty.

Many interesting piece of folklore and art is wooven around the story of the the Chinese Zodiac(Shengxiao), based on a lunar calendar where time is tracked  by a repeating cycle of 12 years with each year  represented by an animal.

Legend has it that in order to determine which animals got selected to comprise the Zodiac, the Jade Emperor invited many animals to race across a river. 

The first twelve animals that successfully crossed the river would be placed into a time cycle based on the order that they crossed the river. There were thirteen contestants and the Rat finnished first followed by Ox, the Tiger, the Rabbit, the Dragon, the Snake, the Horse, the Ram, the Monkey, the Rooster, the Dog and finally the Pig. These twelve animals got officially selected into the Zodiac. The Cat was the thirteenth contestant and finished last and was omitted from the selection.

The Chinese Zodiac is an integral element of Chinese culture. The Zodiac also forms the foundation of Chinese Astrology where each animal represents unique characteristics and personality traits and shares different  levels of  compatibility with the other in the Zodiac.
