Visconti Limited Edition Divina Proporzione (Da Vinci) Fountain Pen
The most intellectually intriguing handcrafted writing instrument ever created, "The Divine Proportion" pen was inspired by the novel "The Da Vinci Code," steeped in symbology, numerology and romantic mystique. "The Divine Proportion" is a combination of the Golden Number, Pentagram and The Nautilus.
The Divine Proportion is based on the golden number 1,618, or 1:1.618, long considered to be an ideal aesthetic ratio; also called phi, the number is used to trace circled through five (i.e. pentagons). The architects and painters of the Middle Ages viewed the pentagon as the symbol of Quintessence--the fifth element which represents absolute perfection and ideal beauty.
Visconti's interpretation is a briarwood celluloid pattern ribbed with pure sterling and posing a two-toned 18k gold nib. The cap locks with an exclusive "Hook Safe Lock" which keeps cap and barrel aligned smoothly and securely when posted or closed. The "Push & Pull Touchdown" filling system is also exclusive and is completely concealed inside the barrel when not in use. Each Divine Proportion is enclosed within a handsome wooden box along with a specialized caliper designed to detect the Divine Proportion in objects up to 15cm in length.
