Sheaffer Balance 876 Marble Amber Glow Fountain Pen

This particular offering is a Model 876- Sheaffer Balance Amber Glow. Marbled amber acrylic cap and barrel with 22K electroplated trim and fitted with a 18K solid gold feather touch nib with palladium highlights. This fountain pen was an old new stock. Made in USA around 1997 to 1999.

In 1930 Sheaffer took advantage of the characteristics of their new plastic pens to introduce very streamlined models. These are the Balance pens. The design proved to be very popular and the public rushed to but these new pens. The other pen companies rushed to compete with less blocky designs. The design however ended in 1945. Tracing its ancestry back to Sheaffer's ground-breaking torpedo-shaped design in the late 20s, the modern Sheaffer Balance II is a faithful reproduction of everything that makes the vintage models such a pleasure to use especially with the added convenience of cartridges and converters.

This model has been discontinued. Made is USA model. You can see the "Made in USA" hallmark on the nib. For your information, the factory in USA has been closed. Thus these were one of the last few models from the USA factory. It certainly makes it even more collectible and sought after in the years to come. This is a new old stock. Brand new, not dipped and not used. Complete with box and papers.

The 18K solid gold nib engraved with "Sheaffer's Feather Touch" looks absolutely beautiful delicious & stunning, and we are very sure you will feel proud owning a bit of Sheaffer's history of this "Made in USA" fine writing instrument. The closure of the Fort Madison factory was indeed a great loss, not only to the citizens of Fort Madison, but also to the world of pen enthusiasts. Thus let’s own a bit of it glorious history.
