Sailor Limited Edition King of Pens (KOP) Ebonite Umesaki Naginata Togi Fountain Pen
Sailor Limited Edition King of Pens (KOP) Ebonite Umesaki Naginata Togi Fountain Pen
The annual release of Sailor’s highly anticipated colored ebonite series has arrived. Crafted using the exquisite Chirashi (“scattering”) ebonite technique and fitted with the esteemed 21K gold Naginata Togi nib, this collection has featured masterpieces such as KAIHA, KOUEN, RYOKKYO, SEKKEI, SYOKEI, and MOUKO. This year, the lineup welcomes its seventh addition: UMESAKI.
UMESAKI draws its vibrant character from Hiroshige Utagawa’s celebrated ukiyo-e print, Plum Estate in Kameido (Kameido Umeyashiki), part of the iconic One Hundred Famous Views of Edo series. Created during the final year of Hiroshige’s life, the artwork traveled far beyond Japan’s shores, ultimately inspiring Vincent van Gogh, who reinterpreted it in 1887 as Flowering Plum Tree. Its masterful use of perspective gives the scene remarkable depth and a uniquely immersive quality.
Sailor’s UMESAKI translates this artistic legacy into a captivating writing instrument: a pink ebonite base, accented with white Chirashi flecks symbolizing plum blossoms, and enriched with gray and black tones representing tree trunks and branches. The result is a thoughtful and vivid homage to one of Hiroshige’s most influential works, brought to life through Sailor’s renowned craftsmanship.
