S T Dupont Limited Edition Neo Classique Apocalypse Large Fountain Pen
The Maya people constitute a diverse range of the Native American people of the Southern Mexico and
northern Central America. In Maya culture the end of the World would happen during December 21st
2012. The end of the 5,125-year cycle of the Mayan World calendar. Many interpretations believe this is the end of the world or of a cosmic cycle.
The Maya calendar is a system of calendars used in pre-Columbian Mesoamerica, and in many modern communities in highland Guatemala and in Veracruz, Oaxaca and Chiapas, Mexico.
The essentials of the Maya calendar are based upon a system which had been in common use throughout the region, dating back to at least the 5th century BCE. It shares many aspects with calendars employed by other earlier Mesoamerican civilizations, such as the Zapotec and Olmec, and contemporary or later ones such as the Mixtec and Aztec calendars. Although the Mesoamerican calendar did not originate with the Maya, their subsequent extensions and refinements of it were the most sophisticated. Along with those of the Aztecs, the Maya calendars are the best-documented and most completely understood.
To honour this ancient culture, ST Dupont has created an incredible limited edition of only 2012 pieces
This beautiful pen is entirely gold plated and is engraved with the very well known patterns of the Tzolk'in stone. The column represented by the pen is engraved with details inspired by the god Quetzalcoatl, or “feathered serpent.” The side of the pen is dominated by the Tzolkin, or 260-day year in the Mayan’s calendar, with the date December 21th, 2012 engraved in Mayan on the opposite side.
The fountain pen is fitted with an 18k gold NeoClassique nib. Each pen’s clip is engraved with S.T. Dupont.
