Pelikan Limited Edition Maki-e Maiko in Kyoto Fountain Pen

In the year 794, the then Emperor Kammu declared the transfered of the capital of Japan to this new city,Kyoto. It was a
place of gorgeous dynasty and the people also lead a powerful lives.By the end of 12th century, Kyoto had become the central
of commercial and industrial activities in Japan.After 700 years of prosperity it became a morden city when the Meiji Emperor
moved the capital to Tokyo. Present day Kyoto is the sixth largest Japanese city with the population of 1.5 million.  It has many
temples, shrines and other historical architecture and flourishes as the most popular Japanese tourist attraction.
A Meiko is a young apprentice Geiko who trains in arts and customer service manners.In olden days girls started out as Maiko between the ages of 9 to 12. Now the entry age has been raised to after graduation from junior high school.
A Maiko wears a furisode, a long sleeved kimono for unmarried woman, adjusted at the shoulders and hemmed up.
Due to the flashy outfit of lacquered clogs with rounded soles and dangling sash, a Maiko is now said to be epitome of beauty
for young Japanese women.

The Pelikan 'Maiko in Kyoto' maki-e fountain pen shows a graceful Maiko standing on a stone pavement in falling

It is limited to 88 pieces worldwide with the artist's signature drawn in by hand using maki-e techniques.
