MONTEGRAPPA
1998 LE LA SIRENA – THE
MERMAID
The beauty of the Montegrappa Mermaid, Annual Edition 1998, makes one
dream. It was born from the idea and design of the company's designer,
Leopoldo Aquila. It is an authentic writing jewel, a small sculpture that
represents marine elements and a fanciful mermaid curving sinuously around
the pen barrel. The extraordinary cohesion that results, provokes one to
dream of the impenetrable ocean depths, on the surface a ray of light
flares.
There is a piston loading mechanism and an ample capacity reservoir which
can be checked constantly by means of a small transparent window that can be
glimpsed through the sculpture on the barrel. The nib with which Montegrappa
adorns this superb fountain pen is in 18K platinum plated gold. The clip,
another sculpture in miniature, represents a marvellous mermaid, her hair
blowing in the wind, her tail bears the characteristic rolling-ball element
that distinguishes the house of Montegrappa. This precious jewel is
preserved in an exclusive casket that is reminiscent in design to the chests
that the buccaneers and pirates used to protect their treasure. It is also
of treasure that we may speak in regard to this exclusive fountain pen
produced only during the course of the year '98, distinguished by its
individual number and guaranteed by Montegrappa for its original design and
workmanship, still less for the unlimited period product assistance.
