THE
“TRIBUTE TO AYRTON SENNA” LIMITED EDITION BY MONTEGRAPPA
Ayrton Senna's philosophy of setting lofty goals,
meeting the challenge and striving to be the best is what made him a legend.
It was the philosophy which inspired the creation of a writing instrument
which would honor this great achiever and motivator.
The "TRIBUTE TO AYRTON SENNA" Limited
Edition reflects a new turn in MONTEGRAPPA's manufacturing history for it is
the first release to combine two techniques unique to MONTEGRAPPA : low
relief engraving and high relief hand enhanced die cast. The sterling silver
caps and barrels are delicately adorned with low relief engraving. The
engraved patterns, with a strong sporting personality, reproduce a shower of
the sinuous double "5" SENNA brand logos alternating with a tyre
tread design. High relief hand enhanced die cast is used to produce the
components fitted to the cap, namely a spring loaded clip reproducing the
design of a Fl car consisting of three parts : the pilot in 18K solid gold;
the car's upper part in sterling silver (which stays outside when the pen is
in the pocket); the car's lower part in sterling silver joined to the cap,
plus a “rain” tyre fitted to the top of the cap.
The tyre is laser engraved with the MONTEGRAPPA
trade mark. The SENNA brand logo appears on the central band as does the
pen's individual serial number.
The "TRIBUTE TO AYRTON SENNA's" sporting
profile strongly suggests the Formula 1 streamlined design. When in an
"operating" position, the taper of the barrel inserts deeply into
the cap providing excellent balance and substance in the hand of the user.
Overall view
The “TRIBUTE TO AYRTON SENNA” fountain pens
are provided with an 18K gold nib (available in F and M) chiselled with the
SENNA brand logos and the laurel leaves witnessing Ayrton's victories
throughout his three time F1 world champion's career. And continuing
MONTEGRAPPA’s old traditions, the feed is fashioned from ebonite. Fountain
pens feature a sterling grip section designed to provide comfort.
Each pen is presented in a large perspex glass
display case reproducing the design of a F1 car. It allows one to view the
pen through the cover which
accentuates the beautiful details of these inspired writing instruments.
This display makes a bold statement about the pen it encases as well as a
magnificent desk top accessory. A cleverly befitting double-pouch to store
the pen and its accessories (converter and cartridge refill) manufactured in
Nomex. a fire-retardant material used for the manufacture of F1 driving
gloves, completes the compliment.

THE
AYRTON SENNA FOUNDATION and THE INSTITUTO AYRTON SENNA
The AYRTON SENNA FOUNDATION (ASF) emerged from
Ayrton's dream of helping people, especially children, in Brazil and places
all over the world.
Ayrton expressed this wish two months before his
death. He had decided to develop a community project and would give a
percentage of the profit from "SENNINHA " magazine to it.
Unfortunately, the accident stole his life before he was able to realize his
dream. After his death, the Senna family decided to pursue his goal and
establish the ASF with headquarters in England in July, 1994 and the
INSTITUTO AYRTON SENNA (IAS) in Brazil in November, 1994.
The family also decided to donate to the
Foundation all profits from the use of his image. In addition, 100% of all
royalties from products using the registered trademark SENNA and SENNINHA
will be used by ASF for their various charity projects around the world, as
Ayrton did during his career.
In his professional and personal life, Ayrton
always strived for perfection and excellence in all his enterprises. He
repeatedly reached these performance levels through his own talent and
commitment. The IAS / ASF supports and stimulates the development of human
capacity and potential, particularly in children, so they may achieve
quality and dignity in their own lives.
The first projects were launched in Brazil by IAS
on 21 st March, 1995 and are targeted at helping deprived children - two in
the area of nutrition and three in the education and social improvement of
youths, through sport.
