An
historical Italian naval training ship, the Amerigo Vespucci will be docked
in Auckland, New Zealand, for the duration of the 2003 Americas Cup races.
The 70-year-old vessel sailed for 169 days on the journey from Italy to New
Zealand last year. Its mission: to promote Italy and Italian-made goods. One
such good is Montegrappa's Amerigo Vespucci Voyage to Auckland limited
edition. The celluloid fountain pen features a sterling silver overlay.
Low-relief engraving and cold enameling are used to form a map tracing the
route of the ship on its journey. The clip reproduces the ship's figurehead.
Only 169 pieces are offered.
