SKELETON
COLLECTION TITANIUM
The time has arrived for Visconti to use our
design and manufacturing skills with titanium material. Visconti
constantly attempts to create the most exclusive and superblimited
editions, always new and different. It is creativity that has made
Visconti famous worldwide. This time they wanted to combine in one pen,
three features that represent the most outstanding artwork in a fountain
pen: clear demonstrator material, solid titanium and filigree.
Overall view
For the first time, titanium, one of the lightest
and yet hardest of materials, has been cut out to produce the filigree.
The solid titanium cap end, section and blind cap complete the
masterpiece. The new filigree design is based on a combination of their
brand logo.

In the watch industry Skeleton means 'cut-out
mechanism". With the Visconti Skeleton you can clearly see the nib,
filling piston and the exclusive Visconti double reservoir system: the
small one of the front, the large one in the pen barrel. This unique
filling system is powered by the Visconti patented 'double reservoir power
filler" which retains up to 7 times the amount of ink in most
fountain pens, yet allows the traveller to travel with peace of mind while
keeping the pen filled with ink. The nib is a magnificent two-tone 18 Kt.
gold nib.

Titanium: Chemical element with Symbol Ti, Atomic number
22, atomic weight 47.9. It has a density of 4.45 g/cm3, melting
at 1680 °C and boiling-point beyond 3000°C . After the second world war,
the creation of missiles and supersonic airplanes led to the search for
metallic materials with specific features, the alloys and metal commonly
used did not resist the high temperatures of the jet engines and the
friction of the air at very high speed. Titanium alloys, which are lighter
than steel, but much more resistant, helped to overcome these
difficulties. In addition, titanium is resistant to the corrosion of many
acids, salt water, etc This is why it is used for tubes and valves, for
covering of chemical plants and for exposed parts of ships.
