The most beloved monument to Italian auto racing is the Monza Autodrome. Only one pen maker was chosen to create a writing instrument that could capture the excitement, passion and speed of Monza.
The Italian passion for auto racing has inspired some of the most memorable designs of the last 100 years. Whether we consider the sculptural beauty of the automobiles themselves or the ethic that drives competition against the limitations of the past, Italian auto racing has directly contributed to some of the greatest advances in art, design, and technology all over the world.
The Monza National Racetrack, site of the Formula 1 Grand Prix, was built in 1922. Italian penmaker Delta celebrates the 80th anniversary of the racetrack with the introduction of the Monza80, a limited edition of 922 fountain pens. At the 73rd Italian Formula 1 Grand Prix in September, Delta made twospecial presentations. BMW-Williams driver Juan Pablo Montoya, winner of the pole position on September 14, received the Monza80 number 74, and Ferrari general manager Luca di
Montezemolo, whose cars have captured 156 Grand Prix victories, received the Monza80 number 156, in recognition of Ferrari's capturing the world championship.
