MONTEGRAPPA
LIMITED
EDITION
CLASSICAL
GREECE SILVER
FOUNTAIN
PEN
Montegrappa,
the oldest Italian pen manufacturer, has decided to dedicate one of its
precious limited editions to the extraordinary articulated complex of
values, intellectual works and perfectly balanced harmonies represented by
the culture of classical Greece, which still exercises such a profound
influence on the contemporary world. Called Classical Greece, this is a pen
of very original appearance whose design and sophisticated decoration recall
some of the most significant symbols of Greek culture and its inexhaustible
power to disseminate itself.
Overall, with its slender,
tapered shape, the pen recalls the outline of a flaming torch, the universal
symbol of the beacon of learning and its intrinsic mobility, with its
ability to be passed from hand to hand to carry its illumination from one
civilization to another. So far as the cap in concerned, with its fluted
lines it reflects the strong form, also tapered, of the column of a temple,
symbolic of Greek art and its search for perfection, harmonious proportions
and the reflection of the divine. The end part of the barrel is decorated
with a jewel within a jewel: a miniature image of an ancient map of the
Peloponnese created by hand by the application of precious enamels, an
exclusive, sophisticated technique which makes every piece of the Limited
Edition truly unique. In the fountain pen version, rotating this ornamented
part of the pen causes it to be filled with ink (piston filling system),
almost as if to suggest that the action of writing, the symbol par
excellence of western culture, still takes place under the sphere of
influence of classical Greece.
The barrel of the pen is
made of precious turquoise blue celluloid, the colour being symbolic of
Greece. Depending on the version, the precious metal cap is made of sterling
silver. The bi-coloured nib, with ebonite feeder, is of 18K yellow gold.
Decorated with an engraving of the flame of the Olympic torch.
To complete this
unmistakably Montegrappa creation with a touch of elegance, the pen is
presented in a blue-lacquered wooden presentation case, inside which is a
special support for the pen made of Murano glass, a precious material
appreciated throughout the world for its purity and brilliance, and for the
prestigious tradition preserved through the centuries by the master
crafstmen of Venetian glass.
