PELIKAN LIMITED
EDITION 1931 TOLEDO
Pelikan’s first fountain pens
appeared in 1929, quickly establishing technical leadership with their
patented piston filling system. These pens were either black or green. In
January, 1931, the "Pelikan Gold" was introduced. Enhancing its
craftsmanship and technology, Pelikan pens were transformed into pieces of
fine jewelry. Gladly, Pelikan celebrates the golden years by reissuing the
"1931." Faithful in detail, with the exception of certain modern
materials, it is an exact replica of its famous predecessor. Clip and trim
are layered in 18K gold. Production is limited to 5,000 worldwide, making
this a collector’s item.
THE 11TH CENTURY WAS FATEFUL FOR THE CITY OF
TOLEDO
Over four centuries, from 712 to 1085, the Arabians ruled over Toledo. Under their rule, Toledo flourished in art and science, in the silk and cotton industry as well as in its fabrication of arms. Toledo's damascene blades and inlays made by the gold- and silversmiths of the city went by the name Toledo and carried its unique technique into the world.
In 1085 Alfons VI of Castilia conquered the city and appointed Toledo as his royal residence in
1087.
In memory of this very historical 11th century, we have decided to restrict the "Limited Edition Toledo" to only 1100 pieces.
AMBASSADORS OF THE PAST
Each time has its own style, each period is characterized by its very own character. Some things preserve their attraction over the decades, their beauty seems immortal. By reviving the unequalled splendor of these classics Pelikan realized its ambition of editing a truly special series of fountain pens: Originals of Their Time.
