Johann
Sebastian Bach -
Master
Of Music
Johann
Sebastian Bach, one of the best-known members of the famous musical family
of the same name, was the most important composer of the German Baroque era
and of Protestant church music. His
works bear the distinctive stamp of his special genius.
"He should not be called Bach (the German word for stream), but
Meer (ocean) because of his unending, inexhaustible wealth of tone
combinations and harmonies," said Ludwig van Beethoven of the court
"composer, first violin and Kapellmeister".
Bach's works, such as the "Brandenburg Concertos", the
"Well-Tempered Clavier", the "Musical Offering" and the
"Christmas Oratorio", bear witness to his remarkable creativity.
Committed
to the arts
Rooted
in the art of writing and the written language, Montblanc has for many years
been committed to promoting international art and culture.
Since music is a language that is understood the world over,
Montblanc also has a very strong affinity with this art form.
The
"Johann Sebastian Bach" writing instruments are two outstanding
additions to the Montblanc "donation pens".
At the same time as paying tribute to the talents, creative genius
and life-work of Johann Sebastian Bach, Montblanc is contributing to the
preservation of the original manuscripts of the "Brandenburg
Concertos" and the "Christmas Oratorio" in the Berlin State
Library. Ten Euros from the
sale of each writing instrument will go to an appeal fund launched in 1997
by the Friends of the Berlin State Library to preserve the original
manuscripts. The enclosed
facsimile of the original manuscript of the 2nd Brandenburg Concerto,
authorised by the Berlin State Library, is a mark of the gratitude of the
organisers of the appeal and of Montblanc for your contribution to saving
Bach's legacy.
Musical
down to the tip of the nib
Inspired
by admiration for Johann Sebastian Bach's creativity and musical genius,
Montblanc has created a fountain pen that reflect his unique gifts and
ability.
The
"Johann Sebastian Bach" writing instruments are as striking as the
works of this great composer. The
barrel and the top of the cap are made from sepia-coloured precious resin. The cap gleams with the colour of coral and features the
engraved signature of Johann Sebastian Bach and a gold-plated clip in the
form of a treble clef. In
addition, the goldplated cap rings of both the fountain pen are engraved
with notes from the original score of the 5th Brandenburg Concerto. As
a finishing touch, the finely engraved 18 carat gold nib is inlaid with a
portrait of Johann Sebastian Bach in platinum.
Pen is New
Pen is new and never been
used. The fountain pen has never been dipped nor inked. Comes with original
